SupetART 03 – Romana Milutin Fabris

Welcome to SupetART – an Artist-in-residence program at Hotel Supetar Cavtat, showcasing local artists in a pop-art-gallery form.

Once a sea captain’s residence, built on the walls of the old Epidaurus, the newly redesigned Hotel Supetar gathers a carefully curated art collection by local artists, just as captain families would generate over the years and proudly showcase on the walls.

Inviting our guests to fully immerse in the experience of the place, our people, and our culture we are extending our efforts further with the newly-formed “SupetART”, an Artist-in-residence program that provides a provide a platform for other local artists to showcase their work and interact with a broader audience.

Adriatic luxury hotels continue the practice of organizing a cycle of exhibitions by local artists as part of the SupetART project, and this year’s cycle was proudly opened by the exhibition “Homage to Dubrovnik” by the esteemed Dubrovnik painter Romana Milutin Fabris.

Romana is well-known in Croatia and internationally for her paintings and tapestries. Romana has always been captivated by her home town of Dubrovnik, where she finds inspiration for her unique works. However, her art continually surprises us with new moments and colourful delights.

Under the title “Homage to Dubrovnik”, Romana Milutin Fabris exhibits works of art inspired by her hometown – Dubrovnik, its streets and landscape, as well as Mediterranean motifs.

Born in Dubrovnik in 1941, Romana graduated from the Academy of Applied Arts in Belgrade and Fine Arts at the Internationale Sommerakademie für bildende Kunst in Salzburg, where she worked in the workshop of the famous Austrian painter and writer Oskar Kokoschka. Among the painting techniques, she most often uses tempera, oil and acrylic on canvas, and she has set up more than 100 solo exhibitions and participated in more than 150 collective exhibitions in Croatia and abroad. In her paintings, using the acrylic on canvas technique, Romana demonstrates an extraordinary sensitivity towards the simplified
lines of the town’s narrow streets adorned with bougainvillea flowers, adding a special atmosphere to her motifs.
Love for Dubrovnik, sailboats, and flowers guides Romana’s artistic creation. The artist consistently utilizes her expertise to impress and captivate the viewer. Her paintings are true masterpieces of art, colours, and artistic expression.

The exhibition was opened formally opened last night in the hidden garden of Hotels Supetar Cavtat, and it can be can be viewed until June 08, every day with prior notice to the hotel at 020 479 833.
